 The 3rd Applied Communication Festival Concluded Successfully


Held on 26–27 May, the 3rd Applied Communication Festival (İLETFEST 2025) was successfully concluded with strong participation under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Communication.”


Organized jointly by the Television Journalism and Programming, Public Relations and Advertising, and New Media and Communication departments within the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the festival focused on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the communication sector. 

Expert Speakers Discussed the Future of Artificial Intelligence

The festival opened with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Yasemin Giritli İnceoğlu (London School of Economics), who shared current developments and future perspectives on artificial intelligence and communication with the participants.

In the opening panel titled “Artificial Intelligence in Communication: A New Era or a Temporary Trend?”, ATV Main News Anchor Cem Öğretir and NTV Main News Anchor Seda Öğretir discussed the changing face of journalism in the age of artificial intelligence, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yıldız Derya Birincioğlu.

On the afternoon of the first day, the panel “Artificial Intelligence and Communication: Who Is Shaping the Future?”, moderated by Dr. Bahadır Kapır (Marmara University), featured academic perspectives from Prof. Dr. Gülay Öztürk (Fenerbahçe University), Prof. Dr. Durmuş Ümmet (Marmara University), Dr. Cansu Kösem Işık (Altınbaş University), Dr. Yeşim Nalkesen Akın (Özyeğin University), and Dr. Vedat Kamer (Istanbul University).

On the second day, the panel “Artificial Intelligence on Air: The Digital Transformation of Television Programming” was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Kaya İlhan, with contributions from Ali İlhan (Promotions Director, TV100) and Fırat Çetin (Chief Graphic Designer, NTV Art Services).

Applied Workshops Attracted Great Interest

The workshops organized within the scope of the festival attracted significant attention from participants. The closing event of the first day, “Artificial Intelligence Applications in Television Journalism,” was conducted in collaboration with TRT New Media Unit and the tabii platform. Under the guidance of experts Alper Tombul, Eren Özkaradeniz, Alican Yenice, and Özge Boz, students experienced hands-on applications of artificial intelligence technologies in television journalism.

The workshop “Learn the Communication of the Future Today!” led by Mehmet Ali Barışkan at Firnas Auditorium provided students with future-oriented insights into artificial intelligence and communication. In addition, Harun Kilci’s session titled “The Artificial Intelligence Balance of Self-Actualization”, which offered insights into career development and professional sustainability in the sector, was also followed with interest.

Alongside the events, the “Artificial Intelligence in Advertising and Poster Exhibition” showcased creative works by students of the Public Relations and Advertising Department in the foyer area.

Held for the third time, İLETFEST aimed to explore the transformation of communication disciplines in the age of artificial intelligence and to bring together future communication professionals through innovations in the field.
