"High School Winter Academy 2024" held!
The High School Winter Academy, organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) every
year in winter, met with students for the fifth time this year. Thanks to the academy,
high school students received both applied and face-to-face trainings in a university
environment.
As the Faculty of Applied Sciences, we took part in the High School Winter Academy
with different workshops together with our academicians. In this way, by raising
awareness of students' personal development and professional interests, we contributed
to their development and supported their career plans.
Workshops in which our scholars took part at the Faculty of Applied Sciences:
The "Pasta Workshop" organized within the scope of the high school winter academy, offered students the opportunity to learn in detail about the intricacies of pasta making!
The workshop was held on 24.01.2024 between 10.00-13.00 hours. Lecturer Kemal Şahanlık conducted the workshop. The "Pasta Workshop" training provided students with the opportunity to improve their skills in the kitchen and learn new things in a fun environment. In the workshop, information was given primarily about pasta types and production. In between, he received practical training on pasta opening, shaping and presentation methods with sauces.
The "Creative Photography Techniques Workshop" organized as part of the high school winter academy, offered students the opportunity to explore the magical world of visual arts!
The workshop was held on 25.01.2024 in two sessions between 10.00-12.00 and 13.00- 15.00 hours by Assist. Prof. Dr. Adem Ayten conducted the workshop. Within the scope of the workshop, students gained important information about various photo shooting applications. In the workshop, fundamental concepts such as the use of digital cameras, various lens options, types of lighting, exposure, and depth of field were explained. Subsequently, students had the opportunity to practice taking photographs hands-on.
The "Management Information Systems Workshop" organized within the scope of the high school winter academy, offered students the opportunity to gain basic knowledge about information technologies and basic software technologies!
The workshop was held on 25.01.2024, between 14.00 and 17.00 hours, under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Hande Ayhan Gökcek and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hande Ayhan Gökcek and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Esad Yurtsever. Within the scope of the workshop, students gained basic knowledge on topics such as database management, network security, and software development processes. In the workshop, the role of issues such as database design, web design, query languages, and information security for management information systems was touched upon.
The "Introduction to E-Commerce Workshop" organized within the scope of the high school winter academy offered students the opportunity to gain detailed information on e-commerce and its applications!
The workshop was held on 26.01.2024 between 14.00-16.00 hours by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çanakçıoğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Onur Türker. In the workshop, students gained basic knowledge about the development process of e-commerce and the basics of web design. In the session, information was given about the development process, opportunities, and threats of e-commerce. Then, while the basic principles of web design and the importance of user experience were explained, sample websites were also examined.
The "Aviation Workshop" organized as part of the high school winter academy offered students the opportunity to learn about the basic principles of aviation!
The workshop was held on 26.01.2024, between 10.00-12.00 hours by Assistant Prof. Dr. Rıza Haluk Kul and Lecturer Mehmet Ateş. Within the scope of the workshop, students had the opportunity to learn a wide range of information from aircraft design to maintenance. Within the scope of the workshop, students had the opportunity to learn a wide range of information, from the design to the maintenance of aircraft. In the workshop, students were provided with basic information about aircraft maintenance and design, engine systems, flight control, and maintenance.
