 Double Major- Minor Programs


Double Major Curriculum
 
To ensure that students who successfully carry out their major undergraduate/associate degree programs in accordance with the provisions of Istanbul Gelisim University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations receive free education in order to obtain a Bachelor's or Associate's degree diploma in a second branch if they wish.
 
The double major program covers all the compulsory and elective courses of the department/program to which the double major will be made.
 
The courses and credits required to be taken by the student in the double major program are determined with the approval of the Senate upon the recommendation of the relevant departments and faculty or college boards, taking into account the Higher Education Field Qualifications determined by the Council of Higher Education. The relevant double major undergraduate/associate degree program should be arranged in such a way as to ensure that the student has the learning outcomes defined according to the knowledge, skills and competencies that must be gained at the end of the program as a minimum.

Application Conditions for Double Major Program
 
 
A student can apply to a double major diploma program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest, at the beginning of the fifth semester in four-year programs, at the beginning of the seventh semester in five-year programs, and at the beginning of the ninth semester in six-year programs at the latest. In major associate degree programs, students can apply at the beginning of the second semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the third semester at the latest.
 
Law, medicine, health programs, engineering and architecture double major programs cannot be applied for double major from other faculties or college undergraduate diploma programs, but students of this faculty and college can apply to double major programs of other faculties and colleges.
In order for the student to apply for the double major program, he/she must have successfully completed all the credit courses in the major undergraduate/associate degree program until the semester he/she applied and must not have received a disciplinary penalty.
 
At the time of application, the major must have a grade point average of at least 70 out of 100 (2.72/4.00) and must be in the first 20% of the success ranking as of the year of registration in the relevant class of the major diploma program.
 
A minimum grade point average of 70 out of 100 (2.72/4.00) in the major diploma program; However, among the students who are not in the top 20% of the major diploma program in terms of success in the relevant class, those who have a score not less than the base score of the program in which the double major will be made in the relevant year can also apply to the double major program.
 
It is not possible to apply for a double major between the programs with the same name in Turkish and English teaching programs. Only transfer applications can be made between these programs.
If the student applies to a program that provides education in a foreign language wholly or partially, he/she must obtain a score of at least 70 out of 100 from the foreign language proficiency exam conducted by the School of Foreign Languages or an equivalent score from the national/international exams accepted by the Senate as equivalent.
 
In order to apply for a double major diploma program, a student who has enrolled with a lateral transfer must have studied at least one semester in the undergraduate/associate degree program he/she registered for. However, students who enroll with vertical transfer cannot apply to a double major program.

Minor Curriculum
 
To ensure that students who successfully carry out their Major Undergraduate Programs in accordance with the provisions of Istanbul Gelisim University Associate and Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations receive free education in a second undergraduate branch in order to receive a minor certificate if they wish.

Application, Admission and Registration Conditions for the Minor Program
 
 
The quotas determined by the University Senate for undergraduate programs that will accept minor students are announced on the university website at least thirty days before the beginning of the relevant semester.
Students can apply to the announced minor program at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the 6th semester at the latest.
 
In order for the student to apply for the minor program, he/she must have successfully completed all the credit courses in the major undergraduate program until the semester he/she applied and must not have received a disciplinary penalty.
 
In order for the student to apply to the minor program, the GPA must be at least 65 out of 100 (2.50/4.00) in the major at the time of application.
 
Applications to the minor program are made to the head of the department where the minor program will be made, with the application form and transcript on the date specified in the academic calendar.
 
During the application, the student can choose a maximum of three minor programs. Students are placed in a minor program in order of preference. More than one minor cannot be done at the same time. However, a double major can be done with a minor program at the same time.
 
The admission process is completed with the proposal of the applied department and the decision of the relevant board of directors.
