 E-Commerce Summit Themed "Effective Communication, Strong Connections" Was Held


Under the leadership of the Digital Entrepreneurship and Electronic Commerce Club, the student club of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Management, an E-Commerce Summit with the theme ‘Effective Communication, Strong Connections’ was held on 25 February 2025 between 10:30 and 16:00 at Mehmet Akif Ersoy Hall in Istanbul Gelisim University J Block.


Firstly, the club president Aslı Seven made the opening speech and after giving information about the club activities, she stated that the club aims to lead the digital transformation by blending academic studies with sectoral experience. Then, Dr Pınar Bacaksız, a faculty member of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Management, drew attention to the importance of digital transformation in the world of e-commerce and highlighted the opportunities offered to the sector by current trends and technological developments. In the ongoing speech, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Kamil Kaya talked about the great impact of technology on digital life and the importance of e-commerce today, and explained how developments in this field shape the sector. Prof. Dr. Kaya also stated that the summit offered an important platform to shape the future of the sector by providing vision to the participants. Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, Rector of Istanbul Gelisim University, who made the last speech of the session, touched upon the importance of the events organised by the students and explained in detail the comprehensive research and development opportunities offered by the university to young people. Prof. Dr. Şahin emphasised that the university he emphasised that they make significant contributions to the careers of students with their support.

Immediately after the opening speeches, important names of the sector took the stage in the first session of the afternoon. The first speaker of the session, Murat Erdör, founder of Me Consultancy, presented ‘Being Successful in E-commerce: Is it a Dream?’, he discussed in detail the obstacles to success in e-commerce, how to create successful strategies and the basics of sustainable growth in the sector. Based on his experiences, Erdör emphasised that innovative approaches and the right strategies are the key to success. Following this, Uğur Eskici, founder of Kriko, focused on SEO management and emphasised the importance of increasing the visibility of e-commerce platforms in the digital world. Eskici conveyed the competitive advantages of SEO to the audience through effective search engine optimisation techniques and application examples. In the closing part of the panel, Ulaş Gökhan Gümüş, Founder of Innovative 360 Agency, made important evaluations on the integration of digital marketing and artificial intelligence. Gümüş comprehensively explained the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on digital marketing strategies and the innovations that this transformation will bring to the sector in the future.
 
The 2nd session, which took place in the afternoon, featured remarkable speakers focusing on the digital marketing and e-commerce dynamics of the sector. The first speaker of the session was Canan Ulugöl, Founder of influencer Jel. Ulugöl talked about the importance of influencer marketing strategies in the e-commerce world and explained with concrete examples how brands stand out in the digital arena and how they affect consumer behaviour. In his speech, he detailed the power of social media platforms and the role of influencer collaborations in increasing the awareness of brands. Eda Sevaioglu Tan, founder of DijiMar Consultancy, explained the ‘maths of e-commerce’ required to be successful in e-commerce. After the session, the summit ended with an energetic closing with a live music event organised by the music club.
