 Academic Staff of the Department Received Erasmus+ Education in Hungary


Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Applied Sciences, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Res. Asst. Berna Tellioğlu received training in Hungary within the scope of Erasmus + staff training mobility.


The department participated in the mobility programme held at the University of Nyíregyháza between 17-21 February 2025. Res. Asst. Berna Tellioğlu had the opportunity to closely examine the education system in Hungary and observe different teaching methods. Stating that she was warmly welcomed by the academic staff of the university, Tellioğlu stated that she experienced the student-centred education approach by participating in the courses during the programme.
 
Stating that he had the chance to observe different teaching techniques within the scope of the programme, Tellioğlu emphasised that the importance given to practical lessons attracted his attention. In addition to the educational process, Tellioğlu stated that the city of Nyíregyháza offers a different cultural experience with its unique atmosphere and that he observed that student mobility and cultural activities in the city create a dynamic academic environment. Sharing his observations on the historical and cultural structure of Nyíregyháza, Tellioğlu stated that he had the opportunity to examine many details of Hungarian culture during his visits to Kossuth Square. He also stated that discovering Hungarian cuisine was one of the most enjoyable aspects of this experience and that trying local flavours such as goulash soup and langoustine, which are among the traditional flavours, contributed to his cultural gains.
 
Tellioğlu stated that thanks to the Erasmus+ staff mobility programme, he gained significant academic and personal gains and that the experience of working in a different country gave him great self-confidence. Emphasising that the programme offers a great opportunity to establish international collaborations, Tellioğlu said that getting to know a new culture contributed significantly to his academic development. Stating that such academic mobility programmes help to develop new perspectives for educators and increase international academic interaction, Tellioğlu stated that the experiences provided by the Erasmus + programme will make significant contributions to his professional development in the long term.
