Chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya met with gastronomy students

Participating in the “Brand Identity Creation Process in Turkish Gastronomy” talk at the “Gastro Talks 7” event and meeting with gastronomy students, MYK Gastro Arena Founder and famous Chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya said that Turkish cuisine should be recognized abroad in terms of branding. Yalçınkaya said, “Gastronomy is really important. Although food income seems to be part of tourism income, we actually have a very large share as the food and beverage sector. Therefore, the development of award-winning restaurants such as Michelin stars will attract the attention of many people abroad.”

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) organized a “Brand Identity Creation Process in Turkish Gastronomy” talk to address the branding process of Turkish cuisine and to provide a meeting between gastronomy students and the sector. Famous Chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya also participated in the event as the main speaker, along with many important names from the sector. The event, which began with the opening speech of IGU Board of Trustees Chairman Abdülkadir Gayretli, presented plaques to famous names in the gastronomy sector who provided support for the aid trucks with 100,000 food items sent to the disaster area on behalf of the university during the February 6 earthquake. At the event, Chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya shared his experiences with the students and made important recommendations on what needs to be done to brand Turkish cuisine.
