The introductory event, where the results of the Rural in Life Project prepared by the Social Responsibility and Research Center were conveyed, was held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 14:00 in the E Block Tusi Conference Hall. Representatives from Istanbul district municipalities and university students attended the event. Information about the project was shared at the event.
This project aimed to support the socialization and independent living of disabled people living in rural areas. The partners of the project include Seville Provincial Federation of Associations of Physically and Organically Disabled Persons, Bizkaia Physically Disabled Coordination Federation, Madrid Community Federation of Associations of Physically and Organically Disabled Persons (FAMMA – Cocemfe Madrid), Ozara Storitveno in Invalidsko Podjetje d.o.o. (Slovenia), Istituto dei Sordi di Torino (Italy), Turin Deaf Foundation ONLUS Institute and European Association for Quality and Safety in Family Medicine. In the project carried out with the participation of these organizations, innovative mentoring methods were developed for social workers and municipal employees. Within the scope of the project, a qualitative study was conducted to determine the needs of disabled people living in rural areas and a guide and training curriculum for professionals were created based on the results of this study. In addition, new training programs and mentoring processes were developed for professionals who will provide personal assistance to disabled people in rural areas.
As a result of the project, significant contributions were made to the social life of disabled people through the implementation of guide and training programs for professionals who provide support to disabled people in rural areas. After the project presentation, participants' questions were answered, they were thanked for their participation and the event was concluded.
