 Internship




To consolidate the theoretical knowledge and experience of Istanbul Gelisim University students during their education and training; In order to improve the skills they have acquired in laboratory and workshop practices, to enable them to recognize their personal responsibilities in the workplace, business relations, the production process in the workplace and new technologies, the education and practice of the students who have compulsory internship in the Associate Degree/Undergraduate/Graduate education plans of Istanbul Gelisim University and covers the activities and principles related to internships. Professional or field practices related to compulsory or elective courses included in the education plans are out of this scope.
INTERNSHIP PERIOD AND INTERNSHIP PERIODS
 
Internships in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts are divided into two or three equal parts, with a minimum of 20 working days in the summer months after the second semester, and a total of 60 working days.
 
Normal education students who do not have to attend the courses they are registered for can also do their internship during the academic semesters.
 
In internship programs, a week is considered to be five working days. In workplaces that work on Saturday, Saturday is also considered a business day.
 
Official and religious holidays are not considered working days.
 
Summer internships start on the last day of the spring semester final exams.
 
The students who will take the make-up exams and take courses in the summer education program are under the responsibility of the students to attend the classes, to attend the exam and to attend the internship. Any excuse of the student does not remove these obligations.
 
Internships are completed uninterruptedly for the specified periods, sickness reports up to five working days and absences up to three working days deemed appropriate by the workplace internship officer are accepted as excuses.
 
A student who does not attend his internship for at least nine working days with or without an excuse is deemed to have never done an internship.
 
Work days equal to the excused/unexcused absence period are added to the internship period. In this case, upon the application of the student, additional insurance is made for the missing days. If the student or the internship place does not report this situation, the responsibility belongs to them.
 
For the student who extends the determined internship period voluntarily, no additional insurance is made.
 
Students who do not have an internship obligation in their education plans cannot apply for an optional internship.
DETERMINATION OF INTERNSHIP PLACES
 
It is the student's responsibility to find an internship place. The relevant department / program head or internship coordinator decides whether the internship place offered by the students is suitable or not.
 
Internship places and student quotas allocated by public or private institutions and organizations in Turkey and abroad for Istanbul Gelişim University are coordinated by the Department / Program Presidency.
 
Students can also do their internship in research centers or units within the university, if the relevant units approve.
INTERNSHIP APPLICATION
 
Students who will apply for internship fill out three Compulsory Internship Forms and have the three forms approved by the student affairs at least seven days before the internship start date, in order to be able to make insurance entry procedures, after they are approved by the dean / director or assistant of the relevant units, the head of the department or the assistant and the internship place official. delivers one to student affairs, one to the Head of the Program/Department, and one to the institution where he/she will do his internship. All insurance transactions are carried out by Istanbul Gelişim University for the dates specified in the form of the students whose application forms are approved.
 
The university does not carry out an insurance procedure for students who have been accepted for internship from abroad and certify that they have taken out private health insurance during their internship, and students who are allowed to do their internship by taking advantage of the Erasmus+ internship mobility.
 
Students who start the internship report their internship activities daily to an internship book that can be accessed on the web page, and at the end of the internship, after each page of this book is approved by the workplace supervisor, they deliver the internship book to the internship coordinator.
 
EVALUATION OF THE INTERNSHIP
 
The Internship Commission examines and evaluates all the documents related to the internship books submitted to it and processes the evaluation results into the internship evaluation form.
 
As a result of the evaluation, the student may request or reject the correction of the internship book within one month at the latest.
 
A copy of the evaluation form related to the rejected and unapproved internship books is delivered to the student by the internship coordinator against signature.
 
Approved and approved internship books and evaluation forms are submitted to the internship coordinator with a report.
 
Internship-related documents of the students who are allowed to do internship abroad by the relevant administrative board are reviewed by the internship evaluation commission, and the result is reported to the dean's office or directorate, together with the internship evaluation form, through the relevant internship coordinator.
 
Students whose internship book is not approved apply to the student affairs department within five working days following the notification of the evaluation forms or the announcement of their success grades.
 
Students who do not complete their internship studies within the education period stipulated by the Higher Education Law No. 2547, whether they have a just and valid excuse or not, will not be awarded a diploma.
 
During the internship, students must comply with the provisions of the Higher Education Institutions Student Disciplinary Regulations. Internships of students who violate these provisions are deemed to be incomplete and disciplinary action is initiated against them.
 
Students are subject to the responsibilities of the workplace staff for the damages they cause to the internship place due to their faults, Istanbul Gelişim University has no responsibility in this regard,
 
Internship notebooks are kept in the student's personnel file.
 
Students who enroll in Istanbul Gelişim University through horizontal / vertical transfer or central placement and whose internships they have done in the institution they previously received are not fully or partially suitable, complete the missing days of their internship.

Students have to fulfill the rules and instructions of the institutions and organizations where they do their internships regarding working, working conditions, discipline and work safety.
 
Students who do not fulfill the internship requirement within the normal education period are obliged to pay the internship fee determined by the board of trustees within the scope of the Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Exam Regulations in order to apply for internship.
 
The department boards can determine the internship application principles with the approval of the relevant board of directors.
