Internship
In order to reinforce the theoretical knowledge and experience that Istanbul Gelişim University students gain during their education and training; to develop the skills they acquire in laboratory and workshop practices; to ensure that they recognize their personal responsibilities, business relations, the production process in the workplace and new technologies in the workplace they will work, Istanbul Gelişim University Associate Degree/Undergraduate/Graduate education plans cover the activities and principles regarding the education, practice and internships that students with compulsory internship will do in workplaces in Turkey and abroad. Professional or field practices related to compulsory or elective courses in the education plans are excluded from this scope.
INTERNSHIP PERIOD AND INTERNSHIP PERIODS
Internships in the Banking and Insurance Department are carried out for a total of 30 working days in the summer months after the second semester.
Regular education students who do not have to attend the courses they are registered for can also do their internships during the education-training semesters.
A week is considered as five working days in internship programs. Saturday is also considered as a working day in workplaces where work is done on Saturday.
Official and religious holidays are not considered as working days.
Summer term internships start from the last day of the final exams at the end of the spring semester.
Students who will take make-up exams and take courses in the summer education program are responsible for attending classes, exams and internships. Any excuses of the student do not eliminate these obligations.
Internships are completed without interruption for the specified periods. Sickness reports of up to five working days and absences of up to three working days deemed appropriate by the workplace internship officer are accepted as excuses.
Students who do not attend their internship for at least nine working days with/without excuses are considered not to have done an internship at all.
Workdays equal to the period of excused/unexcused absences are added to the internship period. In this case, additional insurance is made for the missing days upon the student's application. If the student or the internship place does not notify this situation, the responsibility belongs to them.
Additional insurance is not made for students who extend the specified internship period voluntarily.
Students who do not have an internship requirement in their curriculum cannot apply for an optional internship.
The internship application for the Compulsory Summer Internship course will be made online by the student through the OBIS system as of 04.07.2025.
