 Gastronorm Cuisine Hosted High School Students


Within the scope of IGU 2023 High School Summer Academy, UBF Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, Pasta Workshop was held with the participation of students from different high schools.


At the IGU High School Summer Academy, which was held to help shape their future career goals, students had the opportunity to get to know the basic anatomy of the tooth, learn dough preparation and presentation techniques, receive training on robotics and programming, gain knowledge by experiencing the design and implementation period of a commercial film, gain awareness of the basic issues of cyber security, and have information about the design stages of an aircraft. In the Gastronomy Pasta Workshop; It is aimed that students learn all the stages, techniques and use of kitchen equipment in the transformation of flour, which is one of the basic foods, into an exemplary meal.
 
Within the scope of IGU 2023 High School Summer Academy, where 347 students are registered, our department held a Pasta Workshop for students from different high schools. Within the scope of the workshop held in the B Block Gastronorm Cuisine, the history of pasta, the foods and food components used in pasta dough, dough preparation, dough cutting and shaping techniques, pasta cooking and presentation techniques were covered. Welcoming the students by giving general information about the University and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Departments, our Head of Department Asst. Prof. Nevruz Berna Tatlısu, a presentation on theoretical information about the workshop was made. After his presentation, Res. Asst. Gizem Hülaga Kaderoğlu answered the questions of the students. Instructor conducting the application part of the workshop. Lect. Kemal Şahanlık took care of the students one by one, from the stage of making the dough with the ingredients to the stages of cooking and serving the pasta, and the workshop was concluded.
