IGU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Academic Staff and Students Participated in Culinary Forum 2025


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Applied Sciences, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts academic staff and students attended the Culinary Forum 2025 event held in Antalya on 26-27 February.
 
IGU Gastronomy Departments Coordinator and Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli, Faculty of Applied Sciences Vice Dean Asst. Prof. Muzaffer Çakmak, Lecturer İbrahim Levent Demirçakmak and Lecturer Kemal Şahanlık, students came together with the leading names of the gastronomy world.
 
Culinary Forum 2025 was an important platform that brought together industry professionals, academics and experts in the field of culinary arts. Within the scope of the event, IGU Gastronomy Departments Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli was among the speakers and gave a speech titled ‘Scroll to the Side for Continuation: Restaurants‘ Experience with Social Media’ moderated the session. In the session, the effects of digitalisation on restaurant businesses were discussed from multiple perspectives.
 
In the session where topics such as how social media platforms shape the brand perception of restaurants, the impact of customer comments on businesses and the power of viral content were discussed, speakers shared their experiences through real examples. The panel emphasised the importance of a successful social media strategy in restaurant management and offered practical tips for professionals in the sector. IGU Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students actively participated in Culinary Forum 2025 and had the opportunity to meet and exchange information with leading chefs and academicians of the sector. They also came together with students from different universities in Turkey and exchanged ideas on sectoral developments.
