Message from Head of Department
Dear students,
As Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Applied Sciences Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, our ultimate goal is to raise individuals who, by taking our Turkish culinary culture behind us, become conscious of their own richness and gain equipment to make an international impact. At the same time, we strive to graduate our students as citizens who are beneficial to the society and sensitive to the country's agenda.
Undoubtedly, gastronomy is one of the most popular business lines of recent years. Many people around the world are interested in this field and try to be a part of this discipline at the professional or amateur level. In this direction, we see talented young people who are interested in the field as "Gastronomy Specialist" candidates. In this direction, both theoretical courses for academic understanding and applied courses focused on the sector are included in our curriculum and are designed to complement each other.
UBF Gastronomy will provide students with a scientific perspective, associate gastronomy with other disciplines, rationally ground the practical applications of the field, evaluate what they have learned within the framework of a systematic approach and create new ideas. and we act in a way to develop designs.
As Istanbul Gelişim University UBF Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, we not only raise awareness about climate and become the first department in our country to include this course in its curriculum by including the "Climate Change and Biodiversity" course in our elective course pool. At the same time, we try to spend the 4-year university period with maximum efficiency by starting our students with culinary lessons from the first year and from the first semester, and we show our difference compared to other gastronomy departments.
With the 2019-2020 academic season, we have started to have a say in postgraduate education by implementing graduate and doctoral programs in the field of gastronomy. Istanbul Gelisim University, which is the first Foundation University to open a doctorate program in this field in Turkey, is one of the few schools in our country that provides gastronomy education at the graduate level. In this way, we examine gastronomy in an academic sense and train the academicians and trainers of tomorrow.
Dear students, graduates and prospective students, we are excited and proud to see and see you under the roof of Istanbul Gelişim University. I wish you all success on the path that you will become the chefs, academicians and gastronomy experts of tomorrow.
