An Educational Approach That Positions Technology as a Tool
The Translation and Interpreting Department at IGU continues to offer students a practical, industry-oriented education aligned with contemporary needs by placing translation technologies at the center of its training philosophy. This collaboration does not aim to ‘emulate’ human-machine interaction; rather, it highlights the human translator’s added value in the translation process.
Although advanced tools like Trados can automate translation workflows, accurate interpretation of context, cultural adaptation, adherence to ethical standards, and ensuring final quality remain dependent on the expertise of human translators. In this regard, IGU aims to cultivate graduates who can use technology effectively as a tool while developing professional judgment, critical thinking, and interpretive skills—thus becoming highly qualified individuals who stand out in the industry.
