 A Sweet Welcome with Cookies and Basil Syrup


As part of the 2025 Preference and Promotion Days organised by Istanbul Gelişim University, the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts accompanied prospective students and their families with refreshments.


The ‘IGU Preference and Promotion Days,’ which began on 21 July and continued until 11 August, were held at the Tower Campus. During the event, all prospective students and parents who visited the university were treated to cookies carefully prepared in the department kitchen and refreshing basil sherbet.
 
Department faculty members, kitchen staff, and volunteer students were involved in preparing the refreshments. Guests were offered both a delicious break and a small example of the department's practical education approach. Prospective students who visited the department stands had one-on-one conversations with academics and current students to learn about the education programme, practical courses, and career opportunities. The refreshments prepared provided visitors with an enjoyable experience while also contributing to Istanbul Gelişim University's comprehensive promotional efforts targeting all prospective students.
 
The department faculty members who participated in the event were Asst. Prof. Nevruz Berna TatlısuAsst. Prof. Muzaffer ÇakmakAsst. Prof. Elif Cemre Özaydın, Research Assistant Berna Tellioğlu, Research Assistant Cem Keskin, Lecturer Kemal Şahanlık, and kitchen staff Didar Başgöze and Yiğit Can Yeşil, as well as the students who provided support.
