The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Istanbul Gelisim University's Faculty of Applied Sciences welcomed Gökkuşağı College 9th grade students to the Gastronorm Kitchen Laboratory in Block B on 5 January 2026 between 10:30 and 12:00. During the event, which was attended by a group of 20 students and their class teachers, chef hats and aprons were distributed to each student entering the kitchen laboratory. In the cupcake workshop organised under the guidance of Chef Yiğit Can Yeşil, the students were first given verbal information about the ingredients used in cupcake making and the preparation stages. Then, divided into groups at different stations, the students had the opportunity to experience cupcake making step by step. Chef Yiğit Can Yeşil worked with each student individually, providing support where necessary. The students decorated the cupcakes they made with their own creativity. Thanks to the event, the students had the opportunity to see the food production area up close, experience basic kitchen skills hands-on, learn food hygiene rules, and gain teamwork skills. At the same time, they made important gains in areas such as time management, responsibility awareness, and creativity.
At the end of the event, the teachers and students of Gökkuşağı College expressed their gratitude to Chef Yiğit Can Yeşil. This enjoyable and educational event contributed to the students' learning in the kitchen while having fun and gaining awareness of the field of gastronomy.
